Installation Project

Inspirations

Starniv0re

Since I am thinking about illustrations for this project, I been looking back at some of my favorite illustration artists. This one is one of the many illustration and cartoon artists I enjoy. I specifically chose them to present because of their skills in creating different characters in 2d and 3d models.

Molly Hatch

Looking through the artists on this blog, I came across her and I was interested in her use of displaying imagery as a whole across multiple pieces. I also chose her because even though I like color, I was also debating on making the pieces black and white like this.

Katsushika Hokusai

He is probably most famously known for his piece of the large wave print, "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," but he has done way more print works. His style is most recognizable of the traditional Japanese style. An interesting style, but I was always amuse by how they illustrated story elements, where it can be one scene or multiple put together.

Walt Disney

I'm not sure what it is, but I always been interested in classic cartoons and when I thought about them I instantly thought about Walt Disney classic films and cartoons. Especially the Hare vs. the Tortoise, where it is very obvious that you can see the passion and time that was put into this cartoon. The character expressions and movement are all exaggerated but are all smooth as well. I have no experience in animation, but there could be way to make a multiple piece involving movement in a piece.

These last two choices for inspiration are more for the set up of the installation piece. Either as a comic format, like seen in most superhero comics, or as a storyboard set up to show the progress of how an animated story will play out scene by scene, before being put together in a smoother format.
